January 2016 Scleral Contact Lenses
Scleral contacts are large-diameter gas permeable contact lenses specially designed to vault over the entire corneal surface and rest on the "white" of the eye (sclera). In doing so, scleral lenses functionally replace the irregular cornea with a perfectly smooth optical surface to correct vision problems caused by keratoconus and other corneal irregularities. Also, the space between the cornea and the back surface of a scleral lens acts as a fluid reservoir to provide comfort for people with severe dry eyes who otherwise could not tolerate contact lens wear.
June 2015 Anterior Chamber OCT
New advancements in OCT technology allows us to analyze the front structures on your eye with the same precision we were only able to use with the inside of your eye. Now we can see the cornea, anterior chamber angle, and evaluate specialty contact lens fits on the eye with much greater accuracy.

Technology is Here! This new instrument, now in use at Seal Beach Eyes, is the most advanced instrument for evaluating the health of the back of your eye. OCT (Ocular Coherence Tomograph) is a painless and very fast computerized analysis of the retina and optic nerve. It is performed without a dilation and gives the doctors a view of the sensitive lining of the internal eye. This is the gold standard of care for monitoring retinal diseases such as Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy. It is also an indispensable tool for Glaucoma management. This is a test normally covered by your medical insurance and not your vision plan.
"Not Just a New Toy" We have added a new technology to determine your best vision correction. If you are tired of "which is better, one or two?", you will love this new process. The Topcon Refraction System starts in the pre-testing area with our technician. The comfortable and fast equipment will determine your new prescription, analyze your previous glasses, photograph your eye, and check your side vision prior to your visit with the doctor. This information is electronically transferred to the examination room and to your electronic chart. While you will still have to make some choices, we believe you will find the new refraction to be a breath of fresh air. The final testing and recommendations will take place between you and your doctor in the privacy of the examination room.

The first of its kind CustomLASIK procedure in California was officially performed by our surgeon at the Newport Beach laser facility today. "This event marks the beginning of a new era in refractive surgery. With CustomLASIK, night symptoms are virtually eliminated, and refractive outcomes are more precise with patients having a greater chance of achieving 20/20 or better vision", says center representative, Brett Braun.
Seal Beach Eyes is selected to be the one of the first practices in the U.S. to offer Ciba Focus Night & Day contact lenses for 30 Day Extended Wear use. Dr Hill and Dr Nelsen were selected as doctors for a study to determine the safety of these revolutionary new lenses.
